Do you want to be outside this July but don’t know what to do? Here is a list for you!
You can never go wrong with exploring one of the many natural wonders the Austin area has to offer. Hopefully this will give you an idea of the awesome things going on in your city and inspire you to do something you’ve never done before.
Here are a few family friendly things you can do in Austin this summer:
Lady Bird Lake
The lake is beautiful all year long, but summer is certainly the best time to enjoy it. This is one of my favorite places to be in the summer time because the opportunities for fun are endless. You can rent stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, boats, and even water-bikes.
Barton Springs Pool & Deep Eddy Pool
The fresh, cold water of these spring fed pools is the perfect way to beat the Austin heat this summer. At dusk, the Deep Eddy Pool also hosts Splash Party Movie Nights for people of all ages to enjoy.
These are the upcoming shows:
July 8 Beauty and the Beast
July 22 Finding Dory
August 5 Moana
Jaws on the Water at Volente Beach
If you’re feeling brave and like the idea of floating in the water to watch a movie, Jaws on the Water is the perfect event for you. Your ticket includes an inner tube, access to the water park, and of course a screening of Jaws. Come out if you dare!

Hamilton Pool, Jacob’s Well, and Krause Springs
If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, you will find that any of these locations are well worth the distance. Some of these places require advanced reservations so check out these websites to book a time and date:
